PROFAUNA Talks Animal Welfare at Welfarian Academy

There has been a growing awareness and concern towards animal welfare in our public, especially among the youngsters. This was shown clearly when Protection of Forest & Fauna (PROFAUNA) Indonesia was invited to speak at a training held by Animal Welfare Education for Indonesia (AWEI), on Saturday (16/1/2015) in Batu, East Java. At the event called the Welfarian Academy, PROFAUNA presented some topics related to animal welfare in front of around 15 young people who are concerned about animal welfare issues.

During the 90-minutes sharing and discussion, the audiences were very enthusiastic. It was apparent that they paid serious attention to the presentation given by Dwi Derma, PRFOAUNA's campaign officer. Several of them later raised questions concerning animal welfare issues in Indonesia.

PROFAUNA was honored to be given the opportunity to meet these young welfarians. Such event could be a good means to improve the general public's understanding and awareness towards animal welfare.

The Welfarian Academy is an education and training for the participants, which are called young welfarians. They are going to conduct educational activities at elementary schools, which is a very important thing to do because ethical education on how we should treat animals should be given in early age.
