Head Shaving for ProFauna

Moved by the rampant forest degradation and wildlife trade in Indonesia, ProFauna Indonesia's activists held a head-shaving fundraising event in Malang on 18th November 2012. The event was supported by Harris Hotel & Conventions Malang that brought its dozens employees to support the campaign. The General Manager of Harrris Hotel and Conventions Malang, Stylianos Koureas, and the employees also participated to have their heads shaved.

ProFauna's campaign which was held during the car-free day on Ijen Boulevard Malang attracted many crowds. Some of them took photo sessions because ProFauna brought a giant balloon of orangutan shape. The campaign was as successful as other ProFauna's campaigns that are always unique and gaining media coverage and public attention.

During the campaign held on Sunday morning, Harris Hotel & Conventions Malang brought a donation box. For each volunteer having his head shaved was expected to donate to ProFauna for any amount. For three hours head shaving, 380,000 IDR was collected and donated to ProFauna. Yoci Indah Sari, Marketing Communication Manager of Harris Hotel & Conventions Malang stated, "Regardless the small amount, the donation is to show our concern for wildlife conservation".
