(07/09/2012) The rampant television shows exploiting wildlife has urged some Non-governmental organizations working for wildlife protection. The NGOs have denounced Global TV, one of a national television station in Indonesia, for airing Petualangan Panji (Adventures of Panji) and Steve Ewon for exploiting wildlife. MNC TV, another national television station is now being criticized by the NGOs for airing a show containing animal abuse.

(07/04/2012) The illegal primate trade in Indonesia remains high in two big cities in the country: Jakarta and Palembang (South Sumatera). The investigation report of ProFauna Indonesia and the International Primate Protection League (IPPL) shows that dozens of primates are killed for the meat and brain as delicacies every month in both cities.

The latest update on the attack of a long-tailed monkey (Macaca fascicularis) causing the death of a villager in a Banjar (Sub-Village) Tengah, Nongan Village, Gianyar Regency; named Nyoman Gunung on 14th May 2012 showed that the villagers together with the authorities (the police and the armed force) had successfully shot the "crazy monkey" to death five days later (19th May 2012).

(03/14/2012) The illegal wildlife trade occurring in a number of bird (animal/pet) markets in Java and Bali Islands has been likely to increase since early 2012. ProFauna Indonesia's survey conducted in eight bird markets in the islands between January and February 2012 shows an increase in the number and species of animals being traded. In January 2012, there were more than 41 protected animals sold in the markets While in February, the figure increased to 62 individuals. Likewise, the species also increases. There were 12 species in January 2012 and increased to 15 species in February 2012.

(02/26/2012) The illegal trade of sea turtle shell souvenirs happens openly in Tanjung Benoa, Bali. ProFauna's investigation in January 2012 uncovers dozens of souvenirs like bracelet, jewelry box, and cigarette pipe, which are made from the protected hawksbill turtle, were sold in Pulau Penyu (Sea Turtle Island) in Tanjung Benoa, Bali. The prices were 250,000 IDR for each bracelet, a cigarette pipe for 300,000 IDR, and a jewelry box for 1 million IDR.
