ProFauna Goes to SMK Yayasan Soposurung, Toba Samosir
ProFauna's Ride for Orangutan (RFO) team visited SMK Yayasan Soposurung, Kabupaten Toba Samosir (Tobasa), North Sumatra to introduce orangutan conservation to the students (3/5/2013). In the occasion attended by more than 100 students, RFO team played a short movie about orangutan before we proceed to a heated discussion. The teachers were also as eager as their students in joining the workshop lead by ProFauna's chairman, Rosek Nursahid. Doktrin Napitupulu, the headmaster, said "We are happy to have ProFauna here, because our students need to have the knowledge of nature conservation, particularly about orangutans."
Before the visit to SMK Yayasan Soposurung, ProFauna's team was invited by the head of Tourism Department of Kabupaten Tobasa, Ultri Sonlahir Simangunsong, in his office in the center of Balige. He most certainly wishes that ProFauna can give some advice and suggestions on how to develop wildlife-friendly ecotourism.
RFO team would like to thankorganizations and communities that have supported the team in Tobasa, namely:
- Tourism Department of Kabupaten Tobasa
- Tobasa Motorbikes Community
- Richard dan Sandrak (tourism practitioner in North Sumatra)
