PROFAUNA Evacuates Loose Monkey from Neighborhood in Malang

Team from Protection of Forest & Fauna (PROFAUNA) Indonesia evacuated a young Long-tailed Macaque who was wandering loosely around the neighborhood in Karangbesuki, Malang, East Java (21/1/2016).

The macaque was rescued by PROFAUNA's team to avoid further disturbance for the neighborhood. Upon the rescue attempt, the male little monkey was apparently starving and thirsty. He ate the fruits given by the team and currently he is being taken care of by PRFOAUNA's team.

"There are lots of cases where baby monkeys are captured from the wild and traded. When they later are kept by their owners, often times they get loose and cause disturbances for the community," said Swasti Prawidya Mukti, PROFAUNA's campaign officer.
