Police Arrested Leopard Cats Huntress

A student of Mathematics Department, Faculty of Science, Jember University, named Ida Tri Susanti got arrested by Jember Police Department on Sunday (18/10/2015). Ida uploaded a photo of herself holding dead Leopard Cats (Felis bengalensis) claimed as her hunting trophies. The horrifying photo of her having killed protected wildlife was posted on 12 September 2015.

When Protection of Forest & Fauna (PROFAUNA) reposted her photos on our Facebook page, it infuriated  the netizen. Up until Monday (19/10/2015), the information has been shared more than 3,535 times.

Upon receiving loads of reports about the leopard cats killing, PROFAUNA immediately contacted the East Java Nature Conservation Agency in Jember. The officials, along with the police, quickly responded to this case. In a matter of hours, Ida Tri Susanti, were arrested and has been brought in for questioning at the police station.

 "Hunting and trading Leopard Cats violate the law, anybody who does it can be sentenced with 5 years of prison," said Swasti Prawidya Mukti, PROFAUNA's campaign officer.
