Partnership with Forest Farmer Groups to Manage Forests Sustainably
Profauna Indonesia partners with a number of Forest Farmer Groups (locally abbreviated as KTH) to manage forests sustainably in the regencies of Malang and Batu, East Java - Indonesia. Forest management is part of the social forestry programmes of the government initiatives. The KTH, which partners with Profauna Indonesia to manage forests, includes Maju Mapan KTH in Southern Malang, Wonomulyo KTH in Batu, and Wonodadi KTH in Ngantang, Malang Regency.
The forest managed by KTHs ranges from 200 to 1000 hectares, located in the lowlands to the highland mountainous areas. Profauna provides assistances and guidance to the KTH members consisting of 300 to 1200 local people.
