Earth Alms: A Form of Gratitude for Forest Farmers on the Slopes of Mount Arjuna

Local farmers on the slopes of Mount Arjuna in the Batu region held an Earth Alms event as a form of gratitude to God for their abundant blessings. Dozens of farmers flocked to the forest monitoring post on the slopes of Arjuna, bringing food wrapped in banana leaves (February 12, 2026).

The local community, mostly members of the Wonomulyo Forest Farmers Group, enthusiastically participated in the Earth Alms event, which ran from morning until midday. PROFAUNA Indonesia, a partner of these farmers, was also present, along with the local forestry service.

In his remarks, Rosek Nursahid from PROFAUNA reminded farmers to continue preserving the forest. "Let's show that farmers who have been entrusted by the government to manage forests through this social forestry scheme can manage forests well," Rosek said.

Sriasih from the Forestry Service also conveyed the same point: farmers who have received forest management rights through the social forestry program must demonstrate that the forest remains sustainable while also improving the community's economy. The social forestry program prohibits forest destruction.

PROFAUNA Indonesia has been assisting the Wonomulyo forest farmer group since 2021. In addition to providing field assistance on forest management, PROFAUNA also assists in the provision of fruit tree seedlings, coffee seedlings, and the construction of forest monitoring posts, which farmers use for gatherings.
