BRI Life Helps Farmers Restore Forests in Southern Malang

BRI Life, an insurance company of a state-owned enterprise bank, collaborating with PROFAUNA Indonesia to assist the Maju Mapan Forest Farmers Group (locally abbreviated as KTH) in restoring the forests in Tambakrejo Village, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency, East Java - Indonesia. The assistance from BRI Life was in the form of 550 tree seedlings of avocado, mango, mangosteen and petai (bitter bean) which planting ceremony was held on Tuesday (27/12/2022).

In addition to donating the tree seedlings, BRI Life also helps build farmers' hut and equipment to take care of the planted trees. The donation from BRI Life was welcomed by Maju Mapan farmers who are trying to restore forests that have economic value for the local communities, other than the ecological functions.

"We would like to thank BRI Life for donating the tree seedlings and farmers' working hut, these make us even more enthusiastic in restoring the forests that have been damaged," said Gianto, coordinator of forest farmers.

Since 2019, PROFAUNA Indonesia has assisted Maju Mapan forest farmer group to conserve the forests through social forestry programs. "We welcome the contribution of BRI Life in this forest conservation program, because to preserve the forest requires the cooperation of various parties, both from the government, the community, environmental organizations and also corporations such as BRI Life," said the founder of PROFAUNA Indonesia, Rosek Nursahid.
